Music at Kensington School

Along with Art, Physical Education and Computing, Music is one of the central features of life at Kensington School. All children enjoy one double Music lesson a week taught by a native Specialist Music teacher from Year 1 to Year 9, where they enjoy the experience of making music together, whether that be playing keyboards, recorders, xylophones, or singing together.

Research suggests that Music education is a key component in a child’s academic development, as well as bringing the obvious benefits of all teamwork-related, communicative, social activities.

All children have the opportunity to take part in two main concerts each year, at Christmas and in summer, and parents are warmly invited to hear their children perform.

Music in 3º de ESO, taught by Mrs. Margarita López Segura, covers all periods of the History of Music, from the Middle Ages to Contemporary music.

The aim is for students to enjoy learning about the subject, for this reason we accompany the theory with different videos of different works and orchestras by some of the most recognized artists of the international scene.

In addition, students participate in CORO, which can be very useful for respiratory development, learning intonation and tuning, teamwork, etc.

The choral activities planned for this academic year are:
